Rebekah "If you tell people you know everything, no one will ever teach you anything!" Nectar owner and executive chef Rebekah Pearse has been working in the hospitality industry since 1999. She is a Journeyman cook and graduate of the Professional Cooking program at SAIT. In addition, she is certified as a sommelier by the International Sommelier Guild. Her favorite food is veal blanquette, and she hates green peppers and raw mushrooms! Her favorite thing to cook is puff pastry from scratch, and her most obvious trait is her unapologetic workaholism. Drew![]() "Mo' money mo' problems" Drew is the General Manager of Nectar, and has been working with us since August 2008. His favorite food is the hamburger, and he hates to eat sour cream and/or yogurt! He loves to grill a good steak, and everyone should know that his hips don't lie. Keegan"I've done worse things for less money"Keegan is the Dining Room Manager and Sommelier at Nectar. He has been apprenticing in wine, food and debauchery under Rebekah since June of 2008. His favorite food is steak tartare, and the only food he dislikes is raw onion. His favorite thing to cook is anything in the bacon family, and he would like to let the world know that a) he looks great with a tan, and b) he WILL cut you! AmandaAmanda is a Journeyman baker who hails from B.C. and has been Nectar's resident cake-meister since September 2008. Her favorite food is sushi, and she dislikes raw onions! She has a love for cooking Thai food, and she is known for her magical ability to get 1,000 things done but leave no evidence behind on the floor. You will often hear her exclaim "OoLaLa!" or "What-evs!"Ruhama"An expert is someone who learns more and more about less and lessuntil they know everything about nothing at all" Ruhama is a graduate of the culinary program at Humber College, and has been working at Nectar since August 2009. Her favorite food is sushi, and she hates to eat goat cheese! Her favorite thing to cook is creamy sauces, and when asked what everyone should know about her, her reply was: "I'm very weird...but it's all good!" Anoosh![]() Anoosh is a graduate of the culinary program at Humber College, and has been working at Nectar since January 2010. Her favorite thing to eat is yogurt and rice, and she is a halloumi enthusiast. Her dislikes are many, but at the top of the list are peppers, olives and sundried tomatos. She enjoys cooking creamy sauces and anything in a casserole, and would like the world to know that she is definitely not as bitchy as she seems! Her most overused phrase: "I just work here!" Kayla"Don't chase me I'm full of chocolate!"Kayla is currently enrolled in the Baking and Pastry Arts program at SAIT, and has been working for Nectar since November 2009. Her favorite food is stew, and she HATES pickled artichokes! Her favorite thing to bake is pie, and she is known for having a really loud laugh when you get her going! ErinErin was offered a job at Nectar before it ever opened, when Rebekah noticed her keen shrimp-lining-up abilities and cheerful willingness to do mundane repetitious tasks. Two years later, Erin finally accepted and joined us as a kitchen helper for the summer of 2009. We are thrilled to see her in the kitchen again for the summer of 2010. Her favorite food is sushi, and she hates to eat beets! Her favorite thing to cook is her grandma's recipe for chocolate chip cookies, and she's always up for a game of basketball. Her most overused phrase: "No big deal!"Mike"Do everything with so much love in your heart that you would never want to do it any other way"Mike has been shilling desserts and making spectacular coffee for us since January 2008. His favorite food is Nectar scones (yay!) and he HATES bananas! His favorite thing to cook is warm fennel salad which he describes as "good and delicious...oh! and with pine-nuts!" He is obsessed with his iPhone and has a hard time turning down delicious food even when he's not hungry! KajaKaja holds the title of our dancin'-est server and has been livening up our dining room since October 2008. Her favorite food is the noble potato, and she HATES turnips! She enjoys cooking waffles and omelets, and she has been known to scream out loud while reading a good book. Her oft-used remark: "It's casual!"Maija"Let's blow this popscicle stand!"Maija joined us for the summer of 2009, and we are delighted to see her return to our dining room for the 2010 summer season as well! Her favorite food is sushi, and she is not a fan of the fried food category. She claims to prefer cooking to eating, her favorite thing to cook being eggs! Ara![]() "It's always silent when I lay in bed, except for the crashing cars inside my head" Ara has been the graphic designer and all-around-man-behind-the-curtain for Nectar since before it opened. His favorite food is lahmajoun, and he dislikes eating live octopus.
